Back Pain Should be Taken Seriously
Back pain should never be taken lightly. If you have neck pain, lower back problems, or sciatica pain, you should see a spine doctor right away. There is never any reason to ignore back pain, as back problems can lead to significant pain management issues as well as lifelong struggles with orthopedic health. Visit us right away at the Spine Care Center if you are having back or neck pain.
Limit Activities That Cause Pain
If your back pain is related to a specific activity, make sure that you verify that you are performing the activity correctly. If you are lifting incorrectly, twisting too much with your trunk, or a whole host of other actions that are not healthy for your spine, you might need to learn how to properly perform the action that you are trying to engage in repeatedly over your day.
No Slumping or Slouching
Do not slump, slouch, or lean over in your office chair. Bad posture and leaning in rolling chairs down to the floor can cause lots of strain on the lower back and the neck. You should always sit up straight in your chair and make sure that you get up and bend down correctly if you drop something.
Make Sure to Rest
Rest for part of a day, laying flat and with the heat on your lower back if possible. Sometimes minor strains can be handled at home with this simple method of relaxing the muscles and resting them simultaneously.
Do Not Push Through
Make sure that you do not try to “push through” back pain. Any kind of back or neck pain limiting your daily activities should be considered a cause for alarm, and you should stop trying to do the activities that cause you pain until you can see a doctor.
